Whos better now? Ford just beat toyota, honda, and all the other import and domestic car companies in quality ranking! Hell ya! To all who think imports are better than domestics you are stupid brain washed pi** ants. FoMoCo, hell ya =D. Now the point of this question, now who is better? Do you still think fords are junk? Will you change your opinion of domestic auto makers? Will you buy domestics and support americans, and the american economy?

Since many "domestic" cars are assembled in factory's out of the country by non-Americans and many "import" cars are assembled in factory's in the U.S.A by Americans, which is really better for the economy? The big 3 are moving jobs out of the country while the others are bringing them here. I have never purchased any new vehicles other than G.M. or Dodge, but it sure ticks me off when I see that they were built in Mexico or Canada. That being said, my personal manufacture preference order is 1:G.M. 2:Chrysler .............25:Ford. Just from many years as a Mechanic. By the way, who ranking is this? Is it for initial quality?(rated for the first year of ownership) How is it that for many years Ford has had the best selling trucks, but there are more Chevy's on the road after 10 years? (fact, not an opinion) Whats wrong with that math?

That's the ranking for the initial quality. Long term reliability is even more important. I'm not knocking Ford.

There are many Americans who are grateful that they can work for Toyota or Honda. The economy in their region is strengthened because of them. It's just as important for Ford workers in the U.S. It's not just the Big 3 in Canada and Mexico. It's also Toyota (in Canada AFAIK) and Honda. It's because of NAFTA, the free trade agreement that went into effect in 1994.

By the way, the Japanese spend their money on American products too - the IPOD is the number one digital music player in Japan. It's a globalized economy. Quality matters. The Japanese earn money from us. The U.S. earns money from the rest of the world, especially from computers, technology, and entertainment products. Welcome to the global economy.

Try buying a ford and then selling it back to a dealer you will get half the value. As soon as a North American car is driven off the lot it depreciates in value by approx. half.

However Imports hold their value, buy one of those and take it back a year later and you will get almost 3/4 of your money back toward a new car.

It all depends on your millage and any damage you have of course.

I have a 12 yr old Toyota Camry and it has had nothing break yet, I have only had to replace the headlights once in 12 yrs. and it has absolutely no rust and driving in Canada with all the salt we use on our roads means it's well built.

Sorry, there is a reason Ford had the reputation it does.

I you think Ford car is a quality product go for it! Who stopping you. However, what 'Quality' mean to you may not be acceptable to others, just because it finally claimed back the award after losing it for years.

Ford brand in many countries is no class at all, poorly built, unreliable, costly, lousy design and heavy fuel consumption. My choice goes to Toyota, Honda, Madza, anyone of these three can easily beat any US car markers!

JD Power & Associates - With due respect, may be correct in the USA market, but definitely not the world. This is the satisfaction rating confined only to the amercian car buyers.

The fact is any Japanese models in many parts of the world simply out-sold the Ford car. Toyota is now the leader in number of cars built in the world knocking out GM, which going round eaten up other car manufacturers and produes rubbish cars

It's Toyota or Honda for me. Maybe Subaru. I would go American only for the Corvette or a full sized truck. If I was rich, then the Ford GT would be nice.

Toyota and Honda are still tops for reliability, which is based on long term usage. But who knows, maybe that will change one day.

If it's any consolation, Toyotas and Hondas are both built in the USA by Americans.

Won't change my opinion. I'm still buying Japanese. I've had too many problems with piece of crap American cars that last only 5 years.

Thank you Mr. JDPower for answering, still I think I will need (I'm sure other people as well) a couple years for to have confidence in Ford, Chevy, etc again. I'm glad Ford at least is trying to get their stuff together and wouldn't mind driving/owning one if their quality stays up..but I won't do it any time soon. Until they can prove ( I mean like being in the top for a couple years) they are good reliable and quality car/truck I won't buy one.

Quality is best viewed from the customer’s point of view and that’s what our firm’s researchers understand and report. Consumers’ views are the basis of our studies and our recent J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Initial Quality Study (IQS) is based on mail survey responses from more than 97,000 new-vehicle owners.

This year, our firm sees a surge in quality from U.S. automakers. The Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brands are rated better than industry average for quality. Five Ford Motor Co. models, including the Mustang, rank as the most problem-free in 19 vehicle segments. In addition, some 14 Ford Motor Co. models rank in the top three in their respective segments.

One of our research study team members points out that the U.S. automotive industry has embraced J.D. Power ratings and information because of the valuable data collected and reported. Automakers use this data to identify and improve the quality of the vehicles that they produce. With nearly 300 models available to new-vehicle shoppers, it is not an easy task for a manufacturer to receive an award. This is one reason why an automaker is proud of that award, in addition to knowing that consumers indicate the manufacturer has produced a well-made vehicle. Calm down there sport. Who gave Ford the highest quality rankings? Ford? That would make sense... Its like the Dallas Cowboys self proclaiming themsleves as "America's Team". Wait a minute.... you're not from Texas are you?

someone reads an article claimin ford outranked toyota and honda. for every one article you can provide saying this, there are about 5 articles saying otherwise.

in all seriousness though, i've owned fords and i've owned hondas. each ford i've owned had transmission problems up the wazoo. EXPERIENCE, not an article, tells me that i don't want to own a ford again.

as for supporting the US economy, do you know how many americans are actually assembling the accord, camry's and civics you see all over the road? how many tax dollars these manufacturing plants in ohio, indiana, california bring in?
