Phil Egan in his book Design and Destiny describes working in the Tucker plant and being within earshot of the prototype shop, and states that if they were building a convertible car, he'd have known about it. Also, he quotes Alex Tremulis (head designer for the Tucker Corporation) who categorically denied the existence of such a car.

The Tucker Corporation stated categorically that they did not manufacture any convertables.

Any Tucker convertables that may exist were made after the plant had closed.

Tucker never made a convertible. The one shown on the Tucker Club web site is a custom made fiberglass replica built on a Corvair chasis. http://www.suarezweb.com/tuckerclub/taca1052.htm

Preston Tucker developed and manufactured a very unique automobile in 1948. HIs car featured several features that were new and different for the time. There were 51 automobiles made before his company was forced into bankruptcy. 47 are still known to exist, and many of them are on display in museums around the country.

Sure, there is only one and it is very controversial.

Apparently, there is some question as to whether it was built by the factory or just by some dude after the factory closed.
