Depends on what you like. While I do like Fords, they are harder to work on and several parts for them are dealer only parts. Chevy will usually hold a better value and are easier to work on and you can get parts at your local parts store. Fords don't rust as easy as Chevy. AC will last better in Chevy by the way the AC is put together. I own two Chevy trucks due to the fact I can work on them easier then Ford, but have a Ford car to which I like, but do believe it cost more in repairs. So I guess it is what you like as the Ford truck I had was very nice and enjoyed it as much as the Chevy truck I have now.

I'm in a good position to answer this. I worked the last 6 months at National/Alamo driving rental cars every day. Mostly Gm's & Mopars but we have a few Ford's. Plus I had a taurus wagon for 4 years & drove a Ranger 4x4 on my last job. To spinkle things I've driven Kia's, Hyundai's & the Nissan Altma. What's better?? Depends on the model really. I prefer the Ford as a overall easy to drive, simple control setup car. A Taurus or Crown Vic tend to be a little lacking in flash, but don't screw up much. Chevys? Malibu's suck. ( total rental car). Cobalt ( Cramped for some, ecotec's are buzzy) I liked my '02 z24Cavalier with the old 2.4l. right till the 5 speed broke last april. Monte Carlo( Poser, with issues. I prefer the rwd lincoln Mark 8 or 7 or the T-birds, SS package helps. Not a popular rental, but I drive them) Impalas ( just Ok, Depends on the package, still a rental car feel) Suv's & Vans? Not a fan of them, but the bowties seem better than some others. So overall, I'm a Ford fan.

Just because something holds great value after doesn't mean mechanically its 'better' to drive. It boils down to what type of car you're looking at. Then after you look at how the manufactures are looking to back they're vehicles. The companies are so level in quality and been in the business they know what they're doing. However Chevrolets tend to serve individuals on the roads longer than Fords.

I would have to say Chevrolet overall, but it would easier if you narrowed down the field. Do you want a truck or a car? Small medium or large size? How much do you want to spend? Then I could suggest a short list of vehicles to recommend.
